A Rumination on Birthdays

Earlier in March, I and my family celebrated my mother’s birthday. I went out for a meal with them, the first time since before the pandemic [though there was a lot I couldn’t eat and I had to have it dry as I can’t digest gravy / sauces (the joys of having EDS)]. To prevent me having to miss out on dessert, I made jelly and a cake from scratch.

I also made art for the first time in a long while, forging a Monet painting for one of my mum’s presents.

It’s called “Jean-Pierre Hoschedé and Michel Monet on the Banks of the Epte”. Catchy title.

I have begun to write and submit things to magazines and journals again, after the long medical hiatus I had to take last year. Nothing huge yet, just a few poems.

Things are looking a little better.
