A complicated character and the anti-hero of the first book in the Nighthunter series. Noran is given the gift of magecraft (or magic) through his dreams by an ancient Witch whose goal is to corrupt him and drain his life — or any life She can find — to ensure her already legendary longevity. The gift drives him a little mad and he murders someone.
After that, he meets Logan Bartholom, the Nighthunter, and plans to use him as a bodyguard on his journey to Mount Wanslo, where the Witch is waiting to feed — then sacrifice Logan to her. Over the course of the book he has to act as Logan’s guide and confidante (as Logan has Ghost-induced amnesia) and help him find a magical cure for his memory-loss. They go through a lot of strange adventures and face many monsters, and Noran develops feelings for Logan in spite of himself.
In their final confrontation with each other and with the Witch, Noran has to make a difficult decision — choose the Witch and the unending power she can grant, or choose Logan out of love and save the worlds from being destroyed.
