This human man — if he is a human man — is the main protagonist of the Nighthunter novels, is a form of exorcist, has recurrent amnesia, and suffers from a type of lycanthropy. He also has the rare ability to travel to different worlds and times, though he doesn’t usually have control over where he goes and when. Destiny decides that for him, often sending him to where he is most needed by seeming coincidence… but is it coincidence?
A Nighthunter’s job is to exterminate Ghosts — of which there are hundreds of types — and protect the Living from the Dead, as well as destroying Witches. As one of the last and best Nighthunters, Logan’s job comes with added pressure and isolation. He is expected to obey the whims of the Emperor in Dal-Rhiatah and the King of Ossyan. He risks becoming Ghost-tainted with every encounter or battle with the Dead. Nighthunters do not live long. Only one in history lived past thirty years old. He has few friends, and what friends he manages to find end up dying in some gruesome way or another. His love interest, Noran Cadwallader, meets a horrible and untimely death in a magical explosion. His other love interest, Kora Lightfoot, gets corrupted and changed beyond recognition by a Ghost until there is almost nothing human left in her body.
The only things Logan can rely on are his Severed Sense (an innate ability to see and converse with the Dead, and to see that which is hidden) and the ancient sword Athannor or Grim Reaper, and even that gets destroyed in one of the books.
Logan Bartholom is in his early twenties, but the trials that life throws at him have turned his hair white.
